We had a very special day at camp. Not only was it the day of kebob dinner, but there was a special guest on campus. After breakfast, morning service was led by Fr. Paren Galustyan. Following some free time, classes carried on as well as sports and swim and the gorgeous weather. During sports, there was a very intense game of basketball being played between the CITs and staff, which resulted in a win for the staff. His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian arrived to camp a little after lunch as the campers had some free time, and he spent some quality time with the campers getting to know them. As our clergy were welcoming our primate, the campers and staff were setting up for a group picture. The group picture was taken right before our delicious kebob dinner. The dinner included pilaf, salad, pita bread, and some delicious mouthwatering kebob. Then, the Olympic teams water, earth, wind, and fire got ready for their last Olympic event: The Ironman. The teams raced to each obstacle in order to finish first and gain the points from this Olympic event towards their teams. The scores have not been totaled up yet, but yesterday everyone had a great time, therefore making them all winners. Snack was served in the lodge immediately following the evening program and then we all headed to the chapel for evening service. It was led by Archbishop Khajag who gave a special message to the kids. The campers also had some time to ask some questions such as what it takes to become an Archbishop or how frequently His Eminence is in Armenia. At the end of the evening service, the campers all received a cross from Jerusalem as a gift from Archbishop Khajag. After a long day, all campers and staff needed to get a good night’s rest for another eventful day.
