CITs, Staff and Volunteers

Counselors-in-Training (CITs)

The Counselor-in-Training program is open to qualified young people 16 and 17 years old.

CITs will participate in a Leadership Training program that includes both “on-the-job” training by working with staff and campers, along with daily leadership and team building classes. If you have any questions about the application process, contact Lerna Lacinian, the Camp Ministries Coordinator, at 215-452-8322, or via e-mail.

The CIT program has many applicants, and there is a limited amount of space for each session. Therefore, CITs may only apply for ONE session. The application process is a competitive one, and each year we expect a large number of applicants. Keep in mind that though your chances of being accepted will increase if your availability is flexible, you may not necessarily be accepted for your first-choice. Decisions are made based on the camp needs of each particular year.

All CIT applications must be received by APRIL 15; therefore, please act quickly if you are interested in this opportunity. The Camp Directors and administration will review all applications, and CITs will be notified of acceptance by APRIL 30. Should you not be accepted or not accepted for your desired session, you will be eligible for a full refund. In the meantime, we encourage you to begin completing all of the required forms.

You will need to complete the following forms: Medical Packet and Clergy Recommendation Form.

Staff Members

The St. Vartan Camp staff is an integral part of the quality, integrity, and success of the program. They are expected to serve as mentors and Christian role models, and as such, not only have a positive and lasting impact on campers, but also bear a tremendous responsibility. Accordingly, we are seeking fun-loving, dedicated, and faithful individuals who welcome the opportunity to spend the summer mentoring young Armenian Christians and strengthening their own faith in the process. We also provide a modest stipend in appreciation of their efforts. If you have any questions about the application process, contact Lerna Lacinian, the Camp Ministries Coordinator, at 215-452-8322, or via e-mail.

PLEASE NOTE: St. Vartan Camp prefers staff available for all three sessions (A, B, and C), but will accept staff who can only attend one session, if available.

All Staff applications must be received by APRIL 15; therefore, please act quickly if you are interested in this opportunity. The Camp Directors and administration will review all applications, and Staff will be notified of acceptance by APRIL 30. In the meantime, we encourage you to begin completing all of the required forms.

If you are accepted as a staff member, you must attend Staff Training from Wednesday, June 19 to Saturday, June 22 for participation in mandatory training and pre-camp preparations, as required by New York State regulations. This training session is for all staff, regardless of the number of weeks you plan to be on staff.

You will need to complete the following forms: Medical Packet, Clergy Recommendation Form, Voluntary Disclosure Agreement, and a W9 Form.

Volunteers

Our team of volunteers is an integral part of the quality, integrity and success of the St. Vartan Camp program. Volunteers serve as mentors and Christian role models, and as such, not only have a positive and lasting impact on campers but also bear a tremendous responsibility. Accordingly, we are seeking fun-loving, dedicated, and faithful individuals who welcome the opportunity to spend the week, or even the summer, mentoring young Armenian Christians and strengthening their own faith in the process.

As dedicated members of your parish community, we are sure you know of young adults that would make excellent staff members. We hope that you will help us in spreading the word and recruiting this year. In addition, if you know of other adult volunteers that would benefit our program, then please pass this information on to them and ask them to contact us. The areas that we are most in need of adult volunteers are: camp nurses, classroom volunteers, nighttime security, lifeguards, Armenian Language instructors, and Religion instructors.

If you are interested in applying to be a volunteer, please submit a Volunteer Application Packet to Lerna Lacinian, the Camp Ministries Coordinator, via e-mail. Please do NOT fill out a Staff Application through ACTIVE. Please postmark or email all of your application materials, including the clergy recommendation form that your pastor submits to us, by APRIL 15. As you know, our space is very limited but our need for your support is great. The Camp Directors and administration will assess the needs of the camp program and of the session for which you apply, and Volunteers will be notified of their acceptance by April 30.
