This morning we kicked off “Der Krikor Appreciation Week.” After eight wonderful years of serving as one of our Camp Directors, Der Krikor is stepping down from this ministry he has so lovingly looked after. We so value the time and dedication he has put into St. Vartan Camp, so this week will be devoted to saying “Thank You!” to him. Today, our campers began another week of classes and put all their energy into playing handball during sports. In the afternoon, we were blessed with a visit from Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, and the camp family was able to ask him questions about his role as the Primate of our Diocese. For our evening activity, we surprised Der Krikor, or as we call him “DK,” with a slideshow of old photographs and a forum for questions and answers. We learned a lot about his childhood and what led him into the ministry of a priest, and we all enjoyed his favorite desert, ice cream sandwiches!
