Today was an unprecedented day in St. Vartan Camp history. We had our first snow day! We woke the campers up with Christmas music and left newsletters under their doors with the announcement that classes were cancelled, pajamas were encouraged, and creative activities were awaiting them. Instead of class rotations, the campers sang Christmas carols, drank hot cocoa, built snowmen, and decorated ornaments. We had many visitors arrive today. Both Abp. Yegishe Gizirian and Der Tateos Abdalian will be here with us until Friday, and we have the good fortune of having the two of them here to instruct our religion classes. Heritage class will be extremely exciting in these next coming days as well. Maestro Khoren Mekanejian will be teaching the campers some classic Armenian songs, and Stepan Paligian will bring life to Armenia’s history with his colorful reenactments. As our last Olympic competition, the campers played Capture the Flag on the kickball field this evening. They had a blast!
