Our first full day of the camp season began today with the celebration of Badarak. Fr. Aren relayed the story of “The Ten Legged Man” to the campers and encouraged them to go out of their way for their Hye Camp family to be good Christians and serve one another with love. Following Badarak, we enjoyed Brunch together before beginning our day of Olympics. Although rain clouds loomed overhead, it did not dampen our Hye Camp spirits, as we were so excited to start our week. We gathered into our Olympic teams, which consist of all age groups, CITs and Staff. The teams came up with our team names and performed team chants for the whole camp to enjoy. As soon as judges’ votes had been tallied, the clouds parted to give us a beautiful afternoon, so we forged ahead with our Olympic games. Representatives from each team competed in games such as Knock Out Basketball and Home Run Derby as they were cheered on by their teammates and coaches. Following the individual games, the Olympic teams competed in a series of relay races. After a delicious dinner, the campers headed to the pool for a swim test and enjoyed dancing and free time in the main lodge, followed by a snack and our very first installment of W-HYE News.
