In the morning, the staff and CITs participated in Divine Liturgy led by the camp director Rev. Fr. Krikor Sabounjian to prepare themselves to lead the campers through all the fun they will be having in a Christian environment. The morning message was given by Rev. Fr. Mardiros Chevian who spoke about being how we as Christians advertise ourselves through our actions and that at all times we must remember to keep that image clean as Christ would want us to. At 1:00 pm, parents dropped off their children and got them settled into their rooms then proceeded to parent orientations where Fr. Krikor introduced this session’s staff and explained how much fun the campers will have over the course of the next one or two weeks. Afterwards, parents said their goodbyes to campers and left to enjoy their well deserved time off. The campers then had their own orientation to get help get them acclimated to the camp schedule, rules, and activities. The campers later enjoyed tacos and burritos for dinner and then proceeded to the pool for their swim test to gauge their strength as swimmers. In the evening, the campers went to “icebreakers” led by their programming director for the session, Lori Ayanian, before going to vespers followed by bedtime to prepare themselves for the fun-filled days to follow.
