We began our week with a bang! From the moment they woke up, campers were decked out in all red, white, and blue. The National Anthem and the Mer Hayrenik were sang with extra gusto during Flagpole. During Armenian Language class, Armen Bijimenian taught the campers about Mesrop Mashdots and had them create bookmarks with the beautiful Armenian alphabet on them. Maria Panthier, our Arts & Crafts teacher, had the campers create clay bowls using crosses to press decorative patterns into the clay. At sports, campers played a fierce round of handball before jumping in the pool to cool off. Since today was Independence Day, the counselor groups each created their own skit in a Fourth of July parade. They created cheers, chants, dances, and battle reenactments! For the evening activity, campers showed off their knowledge of their peers while playing the Roommate Game. Everyone cracked up as they learned more about their fellow campers. The town had an unexpected but brief power outage at night, so we gathered the campers around a big flashlight fire under the pavilion and played several hilarious campfire games before sending them to bed.
