We have been on the move all day and had a very active Tuesday here at camp! The high of seventy five and slight breeze put everyone in the mood to be outdoors and enjoy the fresh air together. In his morning message, Der Kapriel Mouradian encouraged us to have the courage to be an inspiration to those around us by following the example of Jesus Christ motivating his disciples. We could tell we were in for a great day ahead as campers left chapel with a spring (some literally!) in their steps to flagpole, where we say the Pledge of Allegiance and Armenian National Anthem and do some stretches before breakfast every day. Campers were very enthusiastic during classes, especially in Religion, where they discussed communication with God through prayer with Der Diran and Der Kapriel. It is impossible to stay seated in Maestro Khoren’s Culture and Heritage class, because once he starts playing the keyboard everyone gets on their feet to sing and dance. Everyone showed off their soccer, basketball, and volleyball skills at sports. It was great to cool off at the pool, and the juniors loved trying to see who could catch a beach ball in the air while jumping in from the side. By late afternoon, we were still full of energy and many counselor groups continued to play sports outside. Our evening activity was a camp-wide game of Capture the Flag. Everyone wore red or blue for team colors and had a blast getting ready for the game. The best part was when an impromptu dance party started outside and we Michigan-Hopped our way to the kickball field! After many spirited attempts by both sides to get the flags back and forth, the Blue team came through with a great run and we saw many handshakes before heading off to Vespers and calling it a night.
