Today was a wonderful day at Hye Camp. The sun was out and shining over Camp Hickory as we headed to the lodge for breakfast. Morning service was led by Fr. Hratch and the message of the day was about forgiveness. Classes were first as the campers anticipated a beautiful day of sports and swim outside. During sports, there was a water balloon fight that cooled down the campers and got them ready for a nice swim. Swim went into overtime and led right into dinner. Because of the beautiful weather, we had a camp fire. The juniors got a little time to get cozy for the campfire and headed to the playground to huddle up around the fire and have some delicious s’mores. At the same time, the teens all got together with Fr. Tavit, Fr. Hratch, and Fr. Aren to ask social, moral, and religious questions. Following the “hot topics” discussion, the teens also got to go to the campfire after the juniors. They had an amazing time, made some s’mores, and even had a sing off. The sing off went on for about an hour and by the end of it, the teens were ready to get to bed. To finish off the song-filled campfire, Fr. Aren led all of us in prayer as we sang the Hayr Mer. Overall, it was a day full of laughs and smiling faces.
