Merry Christmas in August! While the weather outside was certainly not frightful or snowy we were awakened by “Oh Come All Ye Faithful,” and other Christmas carols this morning! Our counselors were wearing elf hats – what could this mean? It was almost time for the St. Vartan Camp talent show with a Christmas theme on Thursday evening.

In Arts and Crafts today, campers created “stained glass windows” with painted images of the Armenian cross, the ages old Armenian sign for eternity, and the forget my not flower representing the eternal memory and remembrance of our sainted Armenian martyrs. In Armenian language class we learned about unique Armenian historic sites and wonders of Armenia, including Khor Virab, Mount Ararat and the eternal flame. We also discussed the famous Armenian painter, Mardiros Saryan, the founder of the school of Armenian painting.

After much anticipation throughout the day, the Talent Show finally arrived. The talented campers sang, danced, did magic tricks, created their own TV sitcoms, rapped, told jokes, played the piano, the ukelele, and showed unusual human talents. The hosts and the mid-act entertainment by the CIT Elves made the evening exceptional. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
