It’s hard to believe that we’re already past the halfway point of the Hye Camp week! Time goes by so fast when you’re having fun and that’s what kind of time our campers are having: Fun! Classes today included singing with Maestro Khoren Mekanejian and the start of creating replica stained glass windows in arts and crafts.

In addition to our sports and swimming activities and our classes, we were treated to a surprise Skype session with Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, the Primate of the Eastern Diocese! Khajag Srpazan video conferenced us from our sister Diocesan camp St. Vartan Camp in Greenville, NY,  where he judged this year’s “Choreg Taste-Off.” Both camps eagerly awaited the Primate’s decision on which camp was the 2017 Choreg Champion. In a close call, this year’s title went to St. Vartan Camp.  After the contest, Srpazan told us he was looking forward to visiting our camp later this week. We can’t wait for his visit (and to perhaps change his mind about whose choreg was better)!

During our evening activity, we first played Capture the Flag, where the Blue team was triumphant over the Red team. Later, our campers dressed their favorite counselors into different characters. The creative and funny costumes made everyone laugh. Tomorrow looks to be another jam-packed day full of fun and fellowship!
