We had such a full day today! We began our day with a message from Fr. Hovsep, of St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church in Washington, DC, who urgedĀ us to mirror the nurturing love that Mary had for Jesus here at camp. During sports, we brought back a Saint Vartan Camp favorite: a glorified version of kickball called Matball. The campers had a hysterical time squeezing onto big black mats as they sped around the bases. We were happy to welcome the Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church to campus today during lunch. Archbishop Khajag Barsamian shared his experience of being in Armenia with Pope Francis and the encouragement he felt from spending time with his spiritual brother. He visited the afternoon classes while the juniors had extended sports and swim. For evening activity, the counselor groups competed in a Dutch Auction, where they had to convince judges of the usefulness of their most random possessions. The campers’ creativity is endless!
