Today was our first full day at camp! The 7:30 reveille sparked our enthusiasm, and we began the day with chapel. Before breakfast, we got our blood flowing with our flag salutes and a game of “Ride That Pony” (ask your campers!). After being filled with delicious eggs and bacon, campers tidied up their rooms and set off for classes. They moved around from class to class, learning and laughing in Religion, Heritage, Armenian Language and Arts and Crafts. Once they were refueled from lunch, they put on their sports gear and bathing suits and enjoyed some time on the kickball field and in the pool. After sports and swim, the campers spent some time with their counselors during group time exploring the campus and getting to know each other better. At dinner, the pasta bar was a huge success, and kids were running up at the seconds bell to get more. We had a surprise fire drill, and the campers did a great job getting out of their dorms, lining up under the pavillion, and cooperating with instructions. For evening activity, our programming director, Rachel, gave each counselor group a beach ball, which they used to create a spirited new member of the camp family. The groups came up with a basketball player, a stow-away camper, a gorilla, and even a Lifeguard Chelsea look-a-like. The junior girls won with their clever portrayal of our beloved lifeguard! After chapel, the juniors went back to the dorms to get a head start on sleep, and the teens had some free time to hang out and play in the rec hall. We are all ready for a good night’s sleep and excited for tomorrow’s new adventures!
